Welcome to Ellowes Hall Sports College
A place to aspire and achieve
Headteacher - Mr Kevin Rogers
Welcome to Ellowes Hall Sports College and thank you for taking the time to visit our website. We’ve tried to give you a flavour of what it is like to be a student here and the great range of opportunities, both in and out of the classroom.
It is with great privilege and honour to introduce myself as the Headteacher of Ellowes Hall Sports College part of Invictus Education Trust. I am excited to take on this role as I have an unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of the pupils within the community I am here to serve. I know, from experience as a parent, that our young people thrive when they feel confident and comfortable in the community around them.
Located in a spacious campus, first-class facilities all combine to provide a uniquely rounded learning experience for Ellowes Hall students. That rounded approach is really what sets us apart. From day one we are dedicated to blending academic excellence with a wealth of experiences beyond the classroom. By helping students to excel in mind, body and spirit, we aim to help them unlock and fully realise their true potential. Today’s staff and pupils are living proof of the clear benefits offered by that ethos.
Also reflecting the Invictus Trust’s commitment to help bring out the best in all, are our high standards of teaching and a diverse yet rigorous curriculum. The enormous range of activities we offer away from the classroom ensures that each pupil can grow and develop wherever their interests and talents may lie. We are passionate about sport at Ellowes Hall. It plays a vital role in the life of all our pupils here and we have a long tradition of producing competitive and successful teams in both major and minor sports. We are proud to say that Ellowes Hall students are regularly selected to represent county and country. The School firmly believes in the unique educational and social values that the experience of playing team sports provides, and considers participation in team sports to be very important – for all ages or ability levels.
Having spent the last twenty-five years in education, including six as a Headteacher, I realise the weight of expectation and responsibility this role brings. The biggest thing I have learnt in those years in school leadership is that parental partnership is central to a child’s success at school. I believe passionately in open, honest and respectful communication between home and school. My expectations and standards of both staff and students are high and I rely on your support in upholding these expectations with your child.
I believe in providing an education that not only ensures students gain outstanding results, but also teaches them the key ingredients to succeed in today’s society, focusing on the importance of respect, integrity, honesty and the willingness to grasp opportunities. I have a sporting background and therefore appreciate the value of belonging, teamwork and pride that comes with the opportunity to showcase skill. I know that as part of Invictus the opportunities are endless for our students and I am excited to see what the students from Ellowes can achieve.
This website aims to set out what makes Ellowes Hall special, but it is no substitute for coming to see for yourself. We strongly encourage you to come and experience our wonderful setting and meet the Headteacher, staff and pupils, who will be happy to show you around. This will give you an opportunity to discover what it is like to be a pupil at Ellowes Hall and get a feel for day-to-day life at the School.
