Ellowes Hall Sports College Announces New Headteacher

A new Headteacher for Ellowes Hall Sports College has been named - and will be joining the school for our open events that will be taking place on Thursday 13th October (16:30-18:30) and Saturday 15th October (9:30-13:30).

Mr Kevin Rogers will take over the helm at Ellowes Hall, which is part of the Invictus Education Trust, in January, and brings with him over 25 years’ experience in the education sector – which has seen him lead Ofsted Outstanding schools and make significant impact in schools facings challenges.

Mr Rogers said: “As soon as I saw the job at Ellowes Hall I knew it was an opportunity I had to consider.

“While the school has had its fair share of challenges over the last 4-5 years, it is a school that has huge potential and is definitely moving in the right direction thanks to the efforts of the staff, students and Trust.”

Mr Rogers has previously been Headteacher of an inner-city school in Birmingham which was criticised by Ofsted prior to his arrival. Within three years the school had been turned around, with the improvement that students were making amongst the very best in the region.

Mr Rogers added: “While the outcomes and Ofsted gradings are fantastic news for the school, I took the greatest pride from the fact that more and more families wanted to send their child to the school. That is, after all, what drives us educators. We want to do the right thing to support young people so that they can go on to make a positive difference to their communities.

“I have an unwavering commitment to transforming the lives of the students and families within the community I serve. To achieve this, I think it is vitally important to a culture of high standards and high expectations, but one within which people feel valued and are encouraged to be relentlessly aspirational.

“I cannot wait to be part of the Ellowes Hall community.”

Mr Tony Bowles, CEO of Invictus Education Trust said: “Kevin is a highly experienced education professional, who was the standout candidate through what was a very robust recruitment process.

“Alongside his expertise and knowledge, his enthusiasm and passion for joining the Gornal community was clear for all to see. I have absolutely no doubt that he will build on all the significant improvements that have recently been made to the school’s teaching and learning practices – and continue the very exciting journey Ellowes Hall is on.”
